The 15th Annual Kites Over Lake Michigan will be held not at our venue the past 14 years, Neshotah Beach, but at the Two Rivers High School. This is due to the high lake level that has left us with very little beach. We were fortunate, and very grateful, that the Two Rivers School Board allowed us to continue with the event at the high school. There is a vast expanse of flying and viewing areas behind the school which is perfect for this. We are very sensitive to this strange year of the pandemic, and are mindful of the health and safety of everyone who attends this festival, which has grown to be one of the largest in the Midwest. We will follow the recommended safety guidelines of the health authorities, and encourage social distancing for everyone there. If you are sick, please stay home. If you are not comfortable in a festival setting yet, you can watch the festivities in the safety of your car.
Those who come will be treated to some amazing displays of beautiful giant show kites, precision stunt teams performing mesmerizing aerial ballet with their dual and quad line kites, spectacularand colorful ground displays and activities for kids and adults both days.
There will be a reversal of role this year, with the high school as the festival ground and Neshotah Beach as the overflow parking. A shuttle bus service will run from the beach to the high school for both days, from 11.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Date: Sept. 5th and 6th, 2020
Venue: Two Rivers High School
4519 Lincoln Ave., Two Rivers
Time: 11.00 am to 4.00 pm
Free kite making for kids will be Sunday 9/6/20 at 9.00 am.
Due to the change of venue this year, we will not be able to do any fireworks show and the release of Sky Lanterns. We have looked at all the scenerios and it is not possible to do them in a way that is safe for everyone.
Special Notes
►Please note that per State statute, there will be NO ALCOHOL AND TOBACCO allowed on school grounds. It will be strictly enforced.
