Gayle McDaniel Nicol
Nicol, Gayle McDaniel Was born in Peoria, Illinois on December 17, 1953, the daughter of O. Kenneth and Wanda (O’Daffer) McDaniel. She attended Woodrow Wilson Grade School and Richwoods High School in Peoria, and was graduated summa cum laude from the University of Illinois in 1975. Gayle married Steve Nicol of Germantown Hills on August 14, 1976 in Peoria. They moved to Greendale, Wisconsin in 1977 and then to Waukesha, Wisconsin in 1987 where they have resided for 25 years. Gayle taught 4th grade for many years at Bethesda Elementary School, and this year was teaching 5th grade. Gayle enjoyed biking, golf, tennis, gardening and the beaches in Florida when vacationing in Naples at her parents’ home. Gayle was a pet-lover and had one dog and 4 cats over the years. She loved kite flying and belonged to the Wisconsin Kiters Club and the American Kitefliers Association. One of her great loves was Sylvania II, the family boat, moored on Lake Mendota in Madison, of which she was captain. Gayle was musical and played her father Ken’s ukulele and banjo and her guitar. Gayle loved the outdoors. Gayle leaves her beloved husband, Steve, her mother Wanda McDaniel, two sisters Nancy (Pat) Casey, Melinda (Kevin) Cain, her nephew Scott Casey, her mother-in-law Marie (Bill) Hoag and her sister-in-law Lynne (Jim) Dunn. Gayle was preceded in death by her father Ken McDaniel and her father-in-law Bill Nicol. A memorial service will be held at Church and Chapel at 380 Bluemound Road, Waukesha, on Saturday, May 19. Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. Donations may be made in Gayle’s honor to the charity of the donor’s choice. Memorial Tribute Slideshow.
